According to an LG executive, the South Korean firm plans to launch an Internet-enabled Google TV in the United States the week of May 21st, Reuters reported on Monday. The company is looking to gain a larger share of the emerging smart TV market and defend itself against Apple, which is widely expected to unveil an HDTV later this year or early next year.

“Production of Google TVs will start from May 17 from our factory in Mexico and U.S. consumers will be able to buy the product from the week of May 21,” said Ro Seogho, LG’s executive vice president of its TV business. The executive said the company will decide whether to expand its Google TV offering to Europe and Asia based on sales performance in the U.S. market.

If you want to use your AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note LTE on T-Mobile’s network, you’re in luck. The folks over at XDA-developers have managed to come up with a way to do so – and you even get to connect to T-Mobile’s “4G” network! All you need to do is perform a carrier unlock, a root, and flash a T-Mobile radio – and you’re good to go. Now before you start thinking about – how come we can’t do this with all AT&T phones?

Before you start thinking – why can’t all AT&T phones be unlocked and used on T-Mobile in the same way, it’s because the Galaxy Note has the necessary HSPA+ access built-in, just that it is configured to different bands hence the need to hack the phone before it can work.

If you’re interested in turning your AT&T Galaxy Note into a T-Mobile HSPA+ compatible device, the instructions are available on XDA-developers. As usual, remember to back up your device and make sure you know what you’re doing before attempting anything. You never know what could go wrong.

Well, Panasonic wasn’t lying. Turns out, the company’s Eluga smartphone is, as promised, quite elegantly designed. The stunning handset, which made its debut at this year’s Mobile World Congress, isn’t racing towards the finish line with Google’s latest OS or even top shelf internals. Rather, this Android device places a heavy emphasis on style, durability and display tech much to the delight of our overloaded mobile-senses. We spent some quality time with device at the company’s booth, so click on past the break to get the rundown on our initial impressions.

Developing… There’s no denying it: the Eluga is built to impress. From the deep blacks on its 4.3-inch qHD 960 x 540 OLED display to the sophisticated curve of the unit’s smooth, matte back, this is one phone you’ll want to brandish in public. Weighing only 3.6 ounces (or 103 grams), it registers lightly in the hand and would make for an almost perfect grip were it not for the front’s sharp edges. And keeping in step with the latest mobile trend, Panasonic’s also imbued its beauty with a combo of water- and dust-proofing.

LG’s got a leak and it’s revealing some intriguing details on another flagship smartphone — even backing them up with some screenshots. According to MoDaCo’s mole, it will brandish a 4.7 inch (720 x 1280) display, powered by LG’s first Tegra 3 quad-core setup. Processor speeds for the LG X3 are pegged at around 1.5GHz on a single core, dropping to 1.4GHz during multi-core use.

Hopefully, the 2,000mAh battery will withstand all that thinking power, while Ice Cream Sandwich should help push those multitasking chops to its limit. Camera-wise, you can expect an increasingly standard eight-megapxiel sensor, with a 1.3-megapixel camera on the front. There also appears to be some NFC hardware inside, identified by that circular logo at the top of these tantalizing screengrabs — something we saw on LG’s Prada phone 3.0. We’re hoping to get a full explanation (and a look at some hardware) at Mobile World Congress. There’s just a few weeks to go.

If you’re in the market for a speaker dock for your iOS device, you might be interested in taking a look at what Philips has recently unveiled in the form of the DS6100. Sporting a pretty sleek design, it seems that this particular speaker dock was designed with Apple’s design philosophy in mind and it even looks right at home when placed under your iMac.

It is made out of aluminum and sports a pair of neodymium speakers with 20W of total power which should do a pretty decent job, at least compared to the tiny built-in speakers on the iPhone/iPod. However thanks to its AUX-in port, the Philips DS6100 can be used with a variety of other gadgets, such as with the iMac and will allow for “easy connection to almost any electronic device”. If you like what you are seeing, you’ll be pleased to hear that Philips is expected to start shipping the DS6100 speaker dock come May 2012 and is expected to retail for $179.99.

Thought Canon was done with the point-and-shoot updates after refreshing its ELPH lineup last month? Think again, as the company is updating its PowerShot A-Series shooters with six new models in a variety of colors. All the cameras pack a 16-megapixel sensor, 28mm wide angle lens and can take 720p video. First up is the A4000 IS, which brings image stabilization, 8X optical zoom and a 3-inch LCD for $200 later this month. The A3400 IS and A2400 IS make their debuts in March, and bring the same image stabilization as the 4000, but have a lesser 5X optical zoom.

Additionally, the 3400 packs a 3-inch touchscreen LCD and costs $180, while the 2400 gets a smaller non-touchscreen 2.7-inch LCD and retails for $150. Meanwhile, the A2300 has the same specs as the 2400, minus the image stabilization, and will cost ten bucks less than its brother when it drops next month. Finally, the PowerShot A1300 and A810 each come with 5X optical zoom and a 2.7-inch LCD when they debut in April, with the A810 priced at $110 and the A1300 available for $120.

If you own a 3DS and you happen to be travelling to or from the UK this year, you’ll be glad to know that you won’t have to pay through the nose for WiFi access on your portable gaming console. Boingo Wireless and Nintendo have teamed up to provide free WiFi access to Nintendo 3DS owners in many of the main airports in the UK. This includes London Heathrow, London Gatwick, London Stansted, Southampton, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen.

To use the free WiFi, all you need to do is turn on the WiFi on your 3DS, and you’ll be automatically connected to it when you’re in a participating airport. Make full use of SpotPass as well as the Nintendo 3DS Internet Browser to pass the time while waiting for your flight.

Motorola has started to test their Droid Bionic update on Verizon Wireless, with the mobile carrier sending one out at the beginning of December last year in the form of system software 5.5.893. Apart from that, the past one month plus has seen the arrival of an update to hit 5.9.901, where it will hold a rather extensive list of new features and changes. There is additional work and development done on the smartphone’s next update, and whispers abound that a 5.9.902 update is already being prepared for distribution.

Testers who have successfully applied the 5.9.902 update would have come across additional modifications to their smartphones, albeit these are minor ones that would not be missed too much even if they were not there. Verizon’s VCast Music app has been removed with this particular update, but in return, Amazon’s MP3 store will plant itself firmly in the handset’s ecosystem. Notifications of this update should arrive shortly.

This may have been a fairly big CES for Windows Phone, but it looks like Microsoft still has a fair bit of convincing to do in order to bring all the carriers fully on board. That includes Sprint, which does currently have a Windows Phone in its lineup (and is apparently considering more in the “August-September time period”), but remains decidedly unenthusiastic about the platform as a whole.

As PCMag reports, Sprint’s David Owens said that the carrier is willing to train its reps on Windows Phone, but that Microsoft has to “build the enthusiasm for the product,” adding that the “number-one reason the product was returned was the user experience.” Sprint’s director of product development, Lois Fagan, further added that the carrier remains “cautiously optimistic,” but that Windows Phone “just hasn’t taken off.” In other news, Owens also confirmed that Sprint would expectedly now be focusing all of its intention on its new LTE network, and not produce any more WiMAX-based phones — although, as it’s noted previously Sprint will continue to support the network itself through 2015.
