Verizon’s HTC Droid Eris Will Not Be Upgradeable To Android 2.2 Froyo
The HTC Droid Eris was among the first Android devices in the US and because it was released through Verizon, the smartphones has a rather big number of users. It’s perfectly logical for these users to ask when will Android 2.2 Froyo become available for download for the HTC Droid Eris. The answer came quickly from Verizon who officially announced that the Droid Eris will not be upgradeable to Android Froyo. Bummer!
Verizon says that there are other newer devices which actually need support and the Android platform has to evolve therefore there is no room for old devices. So if you own a HTC Droid Eris then you might as well sell it right away and purchase the HTC Droid Incredible which is upgradeable to Android 2.2 Froyo.
If you won’t buy a new smartphone, then you should ask the XDA-developers to come up with a custom build for the HTC Droid Eris.
